Introduction
Sri Lanka Agricultural Economics Association is the national professional organization for practicing agricultural economists in Sri Lanka. Evidence of increasing interest of practicing agricultural economists in Sri Lanka to form a professional body can be traced back to mid 1960s. Sri Lanka Agricultural Economics Society was formed in 1965. T.Jogaratnam of the University of Peradeniya and Nimal Sanderatne of the Central Bank of Ceylon were appointed as the president and the secretary respectively. The SAEA in its current form was established in 1992 with the objectives of promoting interaction of agricultural economics working in different organizations to facilitate advancement of the profession. Piya Abeygunawardena of the University of Peradeniya was the first elected president of the association. He hold the office for two terms.
